Located in the Kakkabe town, the Padi Igguthappa Temple was built by Lingarajendra in the year of 1810. One of the most ancient temples, it is located in Igguthappa Devara betta in Aiyengeri forest which is 45 Km from Madikeri city towards Virajpet.

The architectural structure of the temple resembles ancient Keralite temples to a large extent. The temple is dedicated to Lord Igguthappa. This temple holds great importance amongst Kodavas and influences their culture and tradition.

The Paadi Igguthappa temple, located atop a hill in a forested area in Kakkabe, has been in existence since 1153, legend also has it that Igguthappa is one of the seven divine siblings who chose Kodagu as his abode. This temple became a prominent place of worship during King Lingarajendra’s reign. Paadi Igguthappa is an important deity of Kodavas. He is considered a provider of bounty and one who fulfills his devotee’s wishes. This place is purely a religious place, where any one can come and offer his pooja.
